| Job Description |
. Primary responsibility includes the development of highly-available production databases, including:
Maintain and monitor our client's production databases to achieve 24/7 - 99.9% availability.
Maintain database performance by pro-actively identifying and resolving issues, calculating optimum values for database parameters, and evaluating, installing and documenting new releases of the database and/or upgrades/patches of DB2.
Recommend tools and solutions to improve general database operations in line with our client's availability and performance objectives.
Trial and test changes targeted for production in our client's staging environment to assess benefits and drawbacks in order to recommend production changes.
Develop and execute adhoc SQL-based reports.
. Secondary responsibility includes the administration of non-production databases, including Staging (replica of production), Sandbox, Quality Assurance and Development databases.
. Third responsibility would be the participation in research, architecture and the full development life-cycle as it pertains to the implementation and operations of databases for our client's products. Specific tasks may include:
Working with the dev team to identify database requirements via analysis of business requirements, system architecture and via participation in end-to-end design for the solution.
Work with the Data Architect and Database Developers to define database schema and query design, development and optimization.
Provides database support by coding utilities. |

| Qualifications |
. Experience developing and administering production DB2 databases in a 24/7 online environment.
. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
. Minimum 5+ years of DB2 Database Development and Administration experience, including:
Production Database Monitoring, Maintenance and Management Experience
Optimization & Tuning for high performance
Experience with both OLTP and OLAP databases.
Backup & Recovery
. Experience with delivering high-availability solutions for DB2.
. Proven track record of relational database administration for a high-availability solution.
. High energy/motivation level with a proven track record of delivery.
. Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
. Strong aptitude to quickly learn and leverage new technologies to achieve greater effectiveness and/or efficiency in your role. |
